At Heady Tie Dyes we make one-of-a-kind tie dyes inspired from our love of jam band culture and live music.
We make all our artwork by hand. We experiment with various pieces of clothing, designs, and color schemes. We make our tie dyes with our secret recipe—extra love.
We use 90-100% cotton fabric in our marvelous creations. After the initial dyeing process, we allow the dye to absorb into the fabric for at least 24 hours. Finally, we hand-wring and pre-wash our tie dyes.
We found our passion for tie dyeing through our love of jam band music. Jam band music and tie dying were rekindled during the hippie movement in San Francisco, CA by The Grateful Dead, an American rock band formed in 1965. Tie dyeing and jam band music have been inseparable since.
To this day, the culture of tie dyeing and jam band music are very much alive through some of our favorite musical groups, such as:
– Dead and Company
– The String Cheese Incident
– Umphrey’s McGee
– The Disco Biscuits
– Sound Tribe Sector 9
– Pigeons Playing Ping Pong
– and many more.
We make tie dyes because we love the culture, the music, the freedom, and the happiness that it brings. Join us and have a look around, something is bound to catch your eye!
